Rio de Janeiro, November 26, 2018. One month before summer, in a not-so-Scottish climate. Before seven o’clock in the morning, we were on our way to the location we have found, and if everything went well, it would turn out to be a forest in the Highlands (where the story of the ballet La Sylphide is played).

This is the kind of production I like the most: with a few people, a well-established concept and a clear idea of ​​what we want to shoot. The silence, the presence of trees and sounds of dry leaves embraced our purpose so that the sylph could become real.

Flávia Aleksandra, our Taglioni, was directed by my husband, Alexandre Prates, her ballet teacher. Flavia’s worries of not getting her pointe shoes dirty were gradually being eliminated as the sylph emerged, little by little. Flavia flew and the issue La Sylphide was born there and then, just like the Aurora dream.

O Making Of de La Sylphide

Rio de Janeiro, 26 de Novembro de 2018. Um mês antes do verão, em um clima nada escocês. Antes das 7 horas da manhã, já estávamos a caminho da locação que encontramos e que, se tudo corresse bem, se transformaria perfeitamente em uma floresta nas Highlands (onde se passa a história do ballet La Sylphide).

Esse é o tipo de produção que mais gosto: com poucas pessoas, um conceito bem enraizado e uma ideia clara do que queremos fotografar. O silêncio, a presença das árvores e os sons das folhas secas abraçaram nosso propósito pra que a sílfide pudesse se tornar real.

Flávia Aleksandra, nossa Taglioni, foi dirigida por meu marido, Alexandre Prates, seu professor de ballet. A preocupação de não sujar as sapatilhas na terra foi sendo eliminada com o encanto diante da personagem que aos poucos surgia. Flávia voou e a edição La Sylphide nasceu ali naquele dia, assim como o sonho Aurora.
