Rio de Janeiro, November 30th, 2020. In the middle of a pandemic, we managed to produce the most extensive edition of Aurora so far. With great care, following protocols and with all the interviews made at a distance, the Nutcracker edition was formed with all the pomp and dream atmosphere that this difficult end of year deserves. Magic, lightness, comfort. This is the recipe for sensations and feelings that the Nutcracker ballet provides, year after year – and 2020 really needs a little peace.

I am in love with this ballet and I wanted to make an edition in line with everything it makes me feel, with its fantastic scenarios, exciting history, wonderful choreography and transcendental music!

The edition, of course, is full of stories: the creation of the ballet and it’s music, and the preparation of Cecília Kerche, former First Ballerina of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, to interpret and dance the Sugared Fairy and the Snow Queen . From Brazil to London and and then  Moscow: we also have testimonies from ballet dancers Leticia Stock and Bruna Gaglianone about the Christmas season in their companies.

The editorial featured costumes and headpieces created especially for editing by the magical hands of João Paulo Bertini, from the Albertini Costumes studio. The photoshoot happen in a studio with a reduced team, but with bold set ideas, beautifully executed by Jessica Lacerda. On the cover, dancer Trislane Martins (Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen) enchants and recalls: representativeness matters. Black lives matter! Our Nutcracker Superstar and Cavalier was interpreted by dancer Marlon Sales – perfect for the role!

The magazine is a dream itself, as it was created to be. Made with great love, it is a tribute to one of the most beloved ballets of all time.

I hope it will deeply touch your hearts and provide a truly magical Christmas experience.

O Making Of de O Quebra-Nozes

Em meio a uma pandemia, conseguimos produzir a maior edição da Aurora até então. Com todos os cuidados, seguindo protocolos e com entrevistas feitas à distância, a edição Nutcracker se formou com toda a pompa e clima de sonho que esse fim de ano difícil merece. Magia, leveza, conforto e acolhimento. É essa a receita de sensações e sentimentos que o ballet O Quebra-Nozes proporciona, ano após ano – e 2020 realmente precisa de um pouco de paz. 

Sou apaixonada por esse ballet e quis fazer uma edição à altura de tudo o que ele me proporciona, com seus cenários fantásticos, história emocionante, coreografias maravilhosas e música transcendental!  

A edição, claro, está recheada de histórias: da criação do ballet, passando pela composição, até o preparo de Cecília Kerche, ex-Primeira Bailarina do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, para interpretar e dançar a Fada Açucarada e a Rainha das Neves. Do Brasil, partimos para Londres e finalizamos em Moscou, com depoimentos das bailarinas Leticia Stock e Bruna Gaglianone sobre a temporada de Natal em suas companhias. 

O editorial contou com peças criadas especialmente para a edição pelas mãos mágicas de João Paulo Bertini, do ateliê Albertini Costumes. Foi fotografado em estúdio com equipe reduzida, mas não por isso economizamos nas ideias de cenário, lindamente executadas por Jessica Lacerda. Na capa, a bailarina Trislane Martins (Fada Açucarada e Rainha das Neves) encanta e relembra: representatividade importa! Vidas negras importam! Nosso Quebra-Nozes superstar ficou por conta do bailarino Marlon Sales, perfeito para o papel!

A revista está um sonho, como foi criada para ser. Feita com muito amor, é uma homenagem a um dos ballets mais queridos de todos os tempos.
